AS Roma’s Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg lies on the ground after being kicked in the face by Inter Milan’s Brazilian defender Lucioduring during the Italian Serie A football match between Inter Milan and Roma at the San Siro Stadium in Milan on September 17, 2011. The incident happened in the 15th minute of the 0-0 draw when Lucio closed in on goal only to be beaten to the ball by Stekelenburg who received a boot to the head for his troubles. It was later confirmed that the Dutch international, who temporarily lost consciousness, had not suffered a fractured cheekbone as originally feared, but still required stitches.
